Direct line to the Far East

The strategic project of the one belt – one road initiative has a high priority for RCG. With the first freight train from China to Vienna, the Rail Cargo Group successfully implemented the next rail freight connection between Asia and Europe.

After the smooth handling of the first train from the Chinese Chengdu in just 14 days and the top-level celebration ceremony in the capital of Austria, the Rail Cargo Group and DHL Global Forwarding are planning regular connections alongside the Eurasian corridor.

In specific terms, it includes the expansion of rail freight transports on the Eurasian land bridge through the following countries: China, Kazakhstan, Russia, the Ukraine, Slovakia and Austria. It implies the increase of freight traffic capacity as well as the sustainable implementation of alternate routes – additionally to the already existing China-Europe connections. It is also planned to reduce the average transport duration to 10 days.
