German Brand Award goes to TransANT

Freight wagon innovation raises the bar in rail freight transport;
Award for outstanding brand strategy;
Creative product launch as the first step towards market rollout

In the field of rail logistics, the ÖBB’s Rail Cargo Group lays claim to high quality, many years’ experience and a strong international network. The wagon innovation TransANT was developed thanks to a profound understanding of customers’ needs across a wide spectrum of industries and business sectors, coupled with excellent in-house expertise and voestalpine’s mechanical know-how. The innovative freight wagon platform concept was presented last year at the Product Launch in Linz directly on the voestalpine site. This unique event has now led to the ÖBB Rail Cargo Group receiving the German Brand Award.

Star product – star performance

The ÖBB’s Rail Cargo Group is raising the bar in rail logistics. Last September, both customers and the media witnessed an impressive demonstration of what the RCG has been setting in motion on the rail freight transportation market. TransANT was unveiled – a completely new, pioneering wagon innovation, which is due to set standards on the international freight transportation market. The birthplace of TransANT, namely the “Formzuschnitthalle” in Linz, became the backdrop for unveiling our product in an atmosphere buzzing with excitement and emotion.

This cooperation event was submitted to the German Brand Award as a product presentation. The TransANT Product Launch was ranked in the Excellence category in Brand Strategy and Creation - Brand Communication - Brand Events. The German Brand Award is a competition run by the German Brand Institute. The Institute was founded as a means to bolster the pivotal role that a market rollout plays in a company’s success, on a national and an international scale. The Institute’s German Brand Award represents one of the most prestigious brand awards in the DACH region.

TransANT: light & flexible

Winning this award for an innovative product that was conceptualised, developed and manufactured by the ÖBB’s Rail Cargo Group supports our efforts to make rail freight transport more attractive and sustainable. TransANT gives rail freight transport a competitive edge in the market. This innovative platform wagon avails of a trainload of up to four tonnes – made possible by its underframe, which is around 20% lighter than conventional frames. What is more, its modular structure means it is available in various industry-specific designs. Structural adaptations enable us to accommodate the needs of our customers and a host of logistical requirements. The first TransANTs will be on the move in 2019, transporting ore on behalf of voestalpine. Further customers will also have the opportunity to test TransANT for themselves, and this revolutionary freight wagon will be on the market from 2020.
