While the Adriatic ports of Trieste and Koper have been of central importance to the Rail Cargo Group (RCG) in its international network for years, the port of Venice is sailing on a growth course. Rail transports have been increasing for years. Already today up to 700,000 TEU are handled annually in the port "Venezia Scalo Marghera". Venice is at the top of the Italian port rankings. The port relies on environmentally friendly logistics solutions for the onward transport of the loading units. And thus on the proven know-how of the RCG. We already handle considerable volumes today via southern ports such as Trieste, Koper and Rijeka. And the trend is rising. Now the logistics professional is putting a direct train running three times a week with a fixed timetable between Venice – via Tarvis – and Duisburg on rail. With the aim of sustainably cushioning the high volume of freight traffic.
RCG is thus building a decisive bridge for combined transport between Italy and Germany. After all, Duisburg and the bimodal terminal as an efficient hub as well as the trimodal port section Venice Ro Port Mos play a central role especially for international freight transport. The TransFER Duisburg– Venice also offers common ferry connections from Grimaldi Lines to Brindisi, Patras and Pendik, extending the logistics offer even to Greece and strengthening it in Turkey. But customers from Scandinavia also benefit from a seamless connection to RCG's international network. The train product offers transfer connections from Duisburg to and from Scandinavia from Samskip. With one product, we link the entire Northern European region with Southern Europe and Asia - in an environmentally friendly and efficient way.
