Kick-off for global pallet partnership

ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) and Pallet Control Tower (PCT) have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at optimising the management of pallets on a global scale. The exchange and trade of EUR pallets and other reusable transport items (RTIs) are becoming increasingly important and efficient.

During a joint meeting in Vienna, RCG and PCT – a Dutch company specialised in the management of pallets and reusable transport items – officially sealed their partnership. RCG CEO Clemens Först and PCT CEO Bart Meijnen signed the forward-looking cooperation agreement at the ÖBB Group headquarters.

More efficient pallet exchange processes

A key element of the partnership is the reintroduction of an efficient exchange system for EUR pallets and RTIs. This system is based on PCT’s eCredits, which facilitate virtual exchanges across Europe and worldwide. The partnership also paves the way for the buying and selling of pallets and RTIs in regions such as the Americas, EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), and the Asia-Pacific region. The digital trading platform PCT-Online helps to identify and suggest suitable offers.

The EUR pallet is gaining ground as a global standard

The partnership between RCG and PCT not only marks a significant milestone in modernising pallet management, but also prepares the ground for impending regulatory changes, including the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). This will strengthen the EUR pallet system and set the stage for global growth.

RCG customers involved from the start

In the coming months, RCG will provide its partners and customers with detailed information about the possibilities offered by the PCT-Online platform. At the same time, user accounts will be set up to enable access to the services.
