Increased roundtrips between Villach and Desio

With this TransFER, RCG connects Austria with one of Northern Italy’s most important industrial regions – with a transit time of just one day. All types of goods can be transported, both in single wagon and wagonload traffic as well as in containers ranging from 20 to 40 feet. In addition to the main leg by sustainable rail, RCG offers comprehensive end-to-end logistics solutions – from first and last mile services to forwarding-related value-added services such as transhipment, warehousing, customs services and final distribution.

Villach as a hub for Italy-bound traffic 

The TransFER Villach–Desio is part of the TransFER Villach–Italy, which serves several destinations in Italy on a regular basis and according to fixed timetables. Industrial areas in Northern and Central Italy as well as destinations in Southern Italy, including Sicily, are connected. 

Villach South marshalling yard acts as a central hub for freight flows to Italy and onwards to South-Eastern Europe. This is where single wagon consignments and wagon groups are consolidated and bundled into block trains.

Logistics hub Desio 

In combination with its own logistics centre in Desio, RCG offers additional warehousing and distribution services. With a warehouse area of 48,000 square metres as well as internal and external rail sidings, the site provides an efficient connection for first and last mile transport and covers the entire Northern Italian region.
