For almost 20 years, Leube Zement GmbH has been putting sustainable rail transport at the heart of its logistics. The raw materials needed for cement production at the Grödig/Gartenau site are delivered sustainably by rail. An industrial siding at the plant is not required: the raw materials travel in MOBILER containers by rail from Linz to Hallein. From there, the MOBILER truck takes over for the onward journey by road to Gartenau – with no transloading and no time lost.
A win for the environment
Last year, RCG transported a total of around 50,000 tonnes of blast furnace slag for Leube’s cement production – a substantial volume that pays dividends for the environment, as Leube Managing Director Heimo Berger explains: “For us, the combination of rail and road is the ideal solution. It allows us to transport large quantities of raw materials sustainably without needing our own rail siding. This saves us approximately 2,000 truck journeys a year – a significant contribution to sustainability by our group of companies.”

Innovative equipment
MOBILER is a flexible logistics system developed specifically for combined transport. A hydraulic lifting device on the MOBILER vehicle enables MOBILER containers to be transferred quickly and easily between truck and wagon – with no crane or private siding required. Loading takes just a matter of moments, creating a seamless link between road and rail.
