ÖBB Rail Cargo Group continues to drive the future of multimodal transport forward with Transporeon

(Vienna/Brussels, 23 September 2026) – ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) has given a positive interim assessment of its collaboration with Transporeon, a Trimble company: since the official launch in December 2023, nearly 10,000 additional shipments have been processed via the Transporeon platform.

Digital platform makes multimodal shipments more accessible

Since 2023, RCG has been the first railway logistics provider to be represented on the Transporeon platform. This marks the first time that rail and multimodal shipments have been integrated into a digital environment where shippers already plan, book and track road shipments. In multimodal shipments the main leg is by rail, whilst the first- and last mile carriage is organised by truck This makes it easier for customers to combine the sustainability of rail with the flexibility of trucks for the first and last mile.

This development demonstrates that digital interfaces are a key lever for integrating multimodal logistics solutions more closely into the industry’s existing transport processes. International awards confirm innovative strength

The cooperation between RCG and Transporeon has already received several awards. In June 2024, the companies were awarded the Austrian Logistics Prize, followed in October 2024 by the international Supply Chain Excellence Award in the category “The Digital Transformation Award”. The joint solution was recognised because it brings together rail, road and multimodal transport on a single platform for the first time, thereby setting a new standard for digital and sustainable supply chains.
