On 12 September 2025, RCG successfully put an ore freight train with a gross weight of over 4,000 tonnes on the rails for the first time. Departing from Vlissingen with 24 container wagons and a total of 4,065 gross tonnes, the ore train was bound for Linz — a real milestone for RCG and sustainable freight transport. This means that over 300,000 tonnes of ore will be transported annually on the Linz–Vlissingen–Linz route.
This was made possible through close collaboration with Dispo-TF Rail, who provided a powerful 6-axle Stadler 9000 locomotive for the journey. This impressive feat demonstrates the potential of close collaboration between partners along the logistics chain, from precise planning to powerful implementation. Short turnaround times, high train weights and comprehensive transport services highlight the potential of rail as an efficient and reliable solution for transporting large volumes of raw materials.
