Limitations due to high water

Overview of current closures of routes.

For days, heavy rain has been causing dramatic flooding with landslides in parts of Slovenia and Austria. Rescue and clean-up operations are still ongoing.

In Slovenia, several sections of railway lines are closed due to the floods.

  • Bleiburg–Maribor near Vuzenica station
  • Celje–Velenje
  • Ljubljana–Zidani Most between Litija and Sava (end of closure expected 9 August, 23:59)
  • Nova Gorica (end of closure expected 7 August, 2023 in the course of the day)

The Spielfeld border crossing is closed until 13 August, 2023 due to planned construction works. Trains to Maribor can only run with diversion via non-electrified lines. The TransFER Maribor–Wels of the Rolling Road (ROLA) has been cancelled for all trains for this reason. In addition, the Balkan-South route from Hodos (HU) or Dobova (HR) to the southern ports cannot be used. The southern ports are currently only navigable via Jesenice (AT) or Villa Opicina (IT).

We are working intensively with our partners to ensure the usual smooth transport of goods. We ask for your understanding and will keep you informed about the developments.

For further information, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your contact person at any time.

At this point, we would like to express our deepest sympathy – on behalf of the entire team of Rail Cargo Group – to all those affected by the floods.
