Renovation works on the Vienna-Budapest route

From 18 September to 9 December 2023, there will be delays and large-scale redirections on the Hungarian part of the main traffic route Vienna-Budapest. The reason is upcoming renovation works on the tracks of the line or on the station tracks.

According to information from the Hungarian State Railways MÁV, the corresponding renovation works on the Biatorbágy-Szárliget section of the route near Budapest will affect both freight and passenger traffic. As a result, large-scale redirections of international train traffic are to be expected via alternative border crossings to and from Hungary.

Detours lead to extended transit times

The expected transit time extensions in single wagonload as well as block train traffic also affect production processes and existing circulation concepts. We are already working intensively on alternative routes, but delays are to be expected.

We are in regular contact with our Hungarian partners and are doing our best to keep the expected delays to a minimum. For further information, please do not hesitate to contact your customer advisor at any time.
