New: TransFER Burghausen–Trieste

A weekly block train connection for intermodal flows of goods between Burghausen and Trieste will start in April. ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) is thus further expanding its TransNET.

The new TransFER runs with one round trip a week and provides an efficient transport option for intermodal flows of goods between the Burghausen UBF terminal in Southern Germany and the Italian Trieste CMR terminal on the Adriatic Sea. It transports 20-ft and 40-ft containers as well as dangerous goods (RID).

Efficient transport between two freight hubs

With the introduction of the new TransFER connection, RCG is responding to the growing demand for rail transport solutions in the Bavarian and Austrian markets. Burghausen is an important hub for freight transport between Germany, Austria and other European economic centres. Trieste, in turn, is an important gateway for trade between Central and Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean region and also for transport to the Far East.
