EcoVadis: RCG receives gold for the fifth time

The international EcoVadis rating once again confirms: the ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) is among the world’s leading companies in terms of sustainability – and in the rail sector, it ranks at the very top.

EcoVadis recognises the comprehensive sustainability efforts of Europe’s leading rail logistics provider with the Gold status, which RCG has now achieved for the fifth consecutive time. This places RCG among the top five percent of all companies assessed worldwide and within the top one percent of the industry.

Outstanding performance in procurement and ethics

RCG performed particularly well in the areas of ethics and sustainable procurement. In the latter category, RCG improved from the top five percent to the top one percent – thanks in part to the introduction of a new Code of Conduct for suppliers that sets clear standards on environmental and human rights issues. Significant progress was also made in ethics: the new whistleblowing software ensures greater transparency and strengthens employee protection.

Targeted climate measures

In the environmental category, special recognition was given to the TÜV-examined environmental award for transport emission reporting, which provides RCG customers with transparent information on CO₂ emissions. Initiatives promoting diversity, equality and inclusion, as well as the use of recycled materials, underline RCG’s holistic approach to sustainability. Furthermore, the Carbon Scorecard once again rated its climate management at the second-highest level: “Advanced”. Contributing factors included the offsetting of residual emissions at the Vienna Freudenau and Lenzing warehouse sites.

Gold as a driver for tomorrow

The fifth consecutive Gold award confirms the consistently implemented sustainability measures of RCG. At the same time, it serves as motivation to continue this path with determination – focusing on transparency and responsibility for a sustainable Europe.
