EU project BRIDGE for digital freight transport

The BRIDGE project, co-funded by the Connecting Europe Facility, aims to further advance the digitalisation of intermodal freight transport across Europe and improve data exchange between all parties involved in the transport chain.

BRIDGE stands for “Boosting a Resilient and sustainable door-to-door Intermodal freight transport digital Data sharing Ecosystem”. The project brings together 20 partners from across the European intermodal freight transport sector and runs for 36 months, from October 2025 to September 2028. It has a total budget of five million euros, with a funding rate of 50 percent.

Common standards along the transport chain

The project focuses on three key objectives: seamless data exchange and process integration between intermodal stakeholders, harmonised and standardised data exchange systems, and end-to-end data interoperability along the door-to-door transport chain.

Greater efficiency and transparency in freight transport

Improved interoperability will help make intermodal transport services more efficient, reliable and attractive for customers such as logistics service providers and shippers. At the same time, BRIDGE strengthens the competitiveness of European rail freight and supports the implementation of digital standards in the intermodal sector.

RCG contributes intermodal and digital expertise

The ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) contributes its expertise in intermodal rail freight transport and digital processes to the project. In doing so, RCG is actively supporting the development of connected, standardised and future-proof data exchange for freight transport across Europe.

BRIDGE is co-funded by the Connecting Europe Facility of the European Union.
