Due to the ongoing general overhaul of Germany’s high-performance corridors, the Wuppertal terminal will have limited accessibility this year. To continue offering high-frequency nonstop connections for intermodal freight flows between Italy and Germany, RCG is shifting the TransFER Verona–Wuppertal to the Duisburg terminal. The new location provides a modern terminal facility and additional capacity for storage and handling. The transition is already delivering results: alongside further volume growth with existing customers, new customers have also been gained.
Expansion to ten round trips per week
The TransFER Verona–Duisburg offers numerous logistical advantages. Since February, it has been operating ten instead of six round trips per week – giving customers more capacity and greater planning reliability. With a fixed timetable and attractive transit times, the connection ensures fast and reliable freight transport – sustainably by rail. It accommodates a wide range of loading units: 20- to 45-foot containers, 25- and 45-foot swap bodies, as well as cranable trailers – including dangerous goods (RID).
Strong hubs in the European network
Verona and Duisburg are two central hubs in European rail freight. Verona plays a key role not only for Italy, but for the entire north–south freight corridor between Central Europe and the Mediterranean region, acting as a hub linking rail, road and international logistics corridors.
Duisburg, meanwhile, is one of the largest inland ports in the world and the leading logistics hub in Germany and Western Europe. The site performs a central function in the handling and distribution of goods across Europe, with direct access to the entire European rail network.
