New TransFER Wolfurt–Frenkendorf

ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) expands its network with a new intermodal TransFER, which enables high-frequency connections to the Mediterranean ports of Genoa and La Spezia as well as the western ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp for maritime loading units.

With the new connection, RCG in cooperation with Swissterminal not only provides efficient and sustainable freight transport between the Wolfurt terminal in western Austria and the Swiss terminal in Frenkendorf, but also attractive onward connections to major European ports. The TransFER is operated with three weekly round trips and an attractive transit time.

Port connection for maritime goods flows

The TransFER Wolfurt–Frenkendorf is particularly suitable for maritime loading units in 20 and 40 foot containers. In Frenkendorf, RCG handles the onward transport with partners and customised transport solutions to and from Genoa and La Spezia on the Ligurian Sea as well as to the two largest European ports in Rotterdam and Antwerp.  The TransFER Wolfurt–Rotterdam will continue to be offered several times a week as a direct connection.
