New non-stop connection between Enns and Hamburg

The new TransFER Enns–Hamburg offers a direct intermodal connection between the Container Terminal Enns and the Port of Hamburg on the North Sea. This creates a direct link to the intercontinental flows of goods.

The Port of Hamburg is the third largest seaport in Europe after Rotterdam and Antwerp, and the largest container port in Germany. The Rail Cargo Group calls at the Port of Hamburg several times a week, making it an important destination in itself. In 2019, RCG's Intermodal Division transported a total of around 76,918 TEUs (container loading units) to and from Hamburg. We transported 33,430 TEU to/from Terminal Wolfurt with six departures per week and 576 trains. 43,488 TEU were transported from and to the Vienna/Linz terminal, also running on six departures per week and 576 trains.

With the new connection, we are not only expanding our services to Northern Germany and the universal port with two round trips per week, we are also creating a direct connection to the Container Terminal Enns – one of the most important transport hubs in the central region of Upper Austria. In addition, our customers benefit from continuous handling and reduced transport times, as we are the sole traction provider for the trains.
