Logistics without the Euro pallet is unthinkable. It is estimated that around one billion Euro pallets are in circulation worldwide. ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) has held the trademark rights to the original Euro pallet with the mark EUR in the oval since 1961. As a supplement to the Euro pallet, ÖBB has now developed a foldable EUR exchangeable frame that is labelled with ÖBB and the EUR in the oval, just like the original Euro pallet.
Advantages for logistics and applications
The foldable EUR exchangeable frame offers decisive advantages over conventional rigid frames. It takes up very little space when transport empty wagons – an important aspect that many shippers consider to be urgently needed. Although foldable stacking frames already exist, there has been no standard for them until now. This gap has now been filled by the foldable EUR exchangeable frame. This standardised frame fits on Euro pallets measuring 800 x 1200 mm. The load in the frame can also be covered with an optional lid.
Stacking frames are attached to pallets for easy transport. They prevent small parts and boxes from falling off the pallet during transport and eliminate the need to wrap the pallet. The new EUR exchangeable frames are stackable and available in four different heights: 10, 20, 30 and 40 cm.
Sustainability and quality assurance
The new foldable EUR stacking frame offers the opportunity to grow this market sustainably and at the same time meet the requirements of the Packaging Ordinance. This obliges companies to reuse or recycle returned packaging. In the automotive industry in particular, there is a high demand for quality-assured, standardised stacking frames that can be exchanged in the same way as Euro pallets. The new EUR stacking frames comply with the relevant standards and have been tested and certified by the independent testing organisation SGS Germany. SGS Germany is a world leader in the fields of testing, inspection and certification.
“With the innovative foldable EUR exchangeable frames, we are offering a sustainable and efficient solution for pallet transport that meets the requirements of modern logistics,” says Clemens Först, CEO of RCG: “All frame manufacturers are invited to apply for a licence for the new foldable stacking frames to ensure that they can be produced in a quality-assured manner.”
